Kersti's New Job!

Kersti started work at the Green Building Council of Australia (GCBA) last week. It really is her dream job, so we are very excited. It is pretty impressive that she was able to get the job. They wanted a full-time, permanent position. Kersti can only work part-time when she is taking classes, and oh yeah, there is that little thing of going home to California for a month after only two weeks of work. But she obviously impressed them, because they are basically redefining the role and she will even be able to do some work from Cali!

So, the company has a very young workforce, which makes it a lot of fun. They also work very hard; I guess my Dad’s comments about how we young people don’t know how to work hard may be a bit unfounded… But it sounds like a great workplace and very exciting work. Her job is to perform research for them and then pass that information on. I guess they are having trouble staying on top of developments in the field, so it is her job to fix that.

Amazingly, they sent her to Sydney for her very first day of work. She spent the week there, and had meetings and orientation all day long. This week she has been in the Melbourne office, and things haven’t been quite as crazy. She works literally a block and a half from my office, so we get to meet for lunch and can take the tram in together. Just like at Stanford! I’m sure Kersti will post more about the job when she has some time, but I am very proud and excited for her!
